Vasmat: To help livestock keepers plan fodder for their animals during the drought and turn the poor-quality fodder available into nutritious feed, a guidance session was held at Kurundwadi in the taluka under the fodder literacy campaign. Twenty-four livestock keepers from the village took part in the training, organised by the veterinary dispensary at Kurunda.

They were given a demonstration of treating soybean straw with urea to raise its nutritional value so that it can be fed to cattle as wholesome fodder, and were advised on how to keep their animals nourished by making good use of the fodder available during the drought.

The campaign is being run in every village of the taluka to raise awareness of fodder management, on the instructions of the zilla parishad's chief executive officer and the district deputy commissioner of animal husbandry and dairying.
