Copyright in our content

The stories, articles, photographs, videos, graphics and layout on the website and the e-paper, and the name and masthead "My Maha Rashtra", belong to My Maha Rashtra or to those who licensed them to us. They are protected by the Copyright Act, 1957 and other laws.

You may:

  • read, view and print our content for your own non-commercial use;
  • share a link to a story, with its headline, on social media or in messages;
  • quote a short extract, with clear credit and a link, for criticism, review or reporting current events, within the limits the law allows (fair dealing).

Without our written permission, you may not:

  • republish a whole story, photograph, video or e-paper page on another website or app, on social media, in WhatsApp or Telegram groups, or in print;
  • pass on e-paper PDFs or page images to others. Where an edition can be downloaded, the download link expires within minutes and is for your personal reading only;
  • remove our name, the author’s name or a copyright notice from our content, or alter it and present it as ours;
  • collect our content in bulk by scraping or other automated means, or use it to train artificial intelligence (AI) systems. Search engines may index our pages as our robots.txt allows.

Some photographs and text belong to news agencies, government departments or other people, who keep their rights. To ask for permission to reuse our content, write to us through the contact page.

Using the website

Use the website only for lawful purposes. In particular:

  • do not try to disrupt or get around the website, its servers or its security, or to enter the admin without permission;
  • do not send spam, advertising, threats, obscene or defamatory material through our forms;
  • do not apply in someone else’s name or with false information;
  • do not pretend to be a My Maha Rashtra reporter or employee.

What you send us

When you send us a news tip, photograph, video or other material, make sure it is true and that you have the right to send it. By sending it, you allow us, free of charge, to check, edit and publish it in our print editions, the e-paper, the website and our social media. What to publish is the editors’ decision. If we publish your material, we will credit you where possible.

If a source asks us to, we try to keep their identity confidential, within the limits of the law. How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy.

Village reporters, subscriptions and the newsletter

  • Applying to the "A My Maha Rashtra reporter in every village... the voice of My Maha Rashtra..." network is free. An application gives no right to a job, an appointment, payment or an identity card. My Maha Rashtra never charges anyone for appointment as a reporter or for an identity card.
  • A subscription request is only a request. The website takes no payments; our distribution team will agree the price, period and delivery with you.
  • The newsletter starts only after you confirm by email, and you can stop it at any time.

The readers’ assistant (AI)

When the readers’ assistant is available, it gives automated (AI) answers. They may be wrong or incomplete, and they are not My Maha Rashtra’s editorial view. For anything important, read the story itself. Do not misuse the assistant, and do not type personal information into it.

Advertisements and links to other websites

The website may carry ads labelled "Advertisement", links to other websites, and material from YouTube, X, Facebook, Instagram and similar services. Claims in an ad are the advertiser’s. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, other websites’ content, services or privacy practices.

Changes to the website and availability

We try to keep the website available at all times, but it may be unavailable for a while for maintenance, because of a technical fault or for reasons beyond our control. We may change, suspend or withdraw any service, section or content without notice, and may block access by anyone who breaks these terms.

Limitation of liability

We work to keep our content accurate, but the website and its information are provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, My Maha Rashtra, its owner, editors and staff are not liable for any direct or indirect loss arising from the use of the website, from its being unavailable, or from links to other websites. Nothing here excludes a liability that the law does not allow to be excluded. See also our disclaimer.

If someone brings a claim against us because you broke these terms or used the website unlawfully, you will be responsible for the resulting loss and costs.

Complaints and corrections

Our grievance officer under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021: Aditya Jadhav, Technical Editor — email editor@mymaharashtra.in.

How to complain is explained on the grievance redressal page. Mistakes in stories are corrected under our corrections policy.

Jurisdiction and governing law

All activities, publications, news reports, articles, photographs, videos, e-papers, broadcasts, digital content, and other services published, circulated, transmitted, or operated under the name My Maha Rashtra, including its print newspaper, news portal, website, e-paper, and local news channel, shall be governed by the applicable laws of India.

Any dispute, claim, or legal proceeding arising out of or in connection with the aforesaid publications, content, operations, or services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts at Nashik, Maharashtra, India, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in this clause shall exclude or restrict any statutory rights, remedies, or jurisdiction conferred by applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms from time to time. The new version will be published on this page with a new date; using the website after that means you accept it. If any provision is found invalid, the rest still apply.

These terms are in Marathi and English, and both versions are meant to say the same thing. If you find a difference between them, please tell us and we will correct it.
