Bhandara: BJP leader and former minister of state Parinay Fuke visited the family of a farmer from Dhop in Mohadi taluka on Friday, October 9, and offered his condolences. The farmer died by suicide on Thursday, October 8, after drought and pests all but destroyed his paddy crop, ABP Majha reported.

Fuke said he shared the family's grief and promised to stand by them, whether on the children's education or any other difficulty. Farming in the area had suffered heavy drought losses, he said, and many farmers were distressed because water had not been released from the Bawanthadi project.

He said he would take up the paddy bonus with the chief minister and press for drought aid to reach farmers quickly. A meeting of MLAs and MPs from the paddy-growing districts had been held with minister Chhagan Bhujbal, who had ordered that compensation for crop losses in those districts be paid as early as possible, and a solution on the bonus would be found at a meeting with the chief minister, Fuke said.

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) district chief Sanjay Rehpade has demanded a case against guardian minister Pankaj Bhoyar and the officials concerned over the farmer's death, as well as ₹1 crore in aid for the family and a government job for one of its members.
