Kaij: Kaij police have registered a case against two people and detained them after a reel showing a birthday cake being cut with a sword instead of a knife went viral on social media. A sword and two daggers have been seized from them.

Police said a young man celebrating his birthday with friends in Kaij at about 10 pm on October 6 cut the cake with a sword and posted the video on Instagram to spread fear. After a member of the detection squad came across the video, inspector Rahul Suryatal ordered action.

Acting under the guidance of superintendent of police Navneet Kanwat, a team traced the young man and his friend through their mobile phone locations and detained them on October 9. The weapons were seized from their homes. A case has been registered under the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act, and the court has remanded the two in police custody for three days, until October 12.
