Nanded: Nanded rural police, the local crime branch and the revenue department carried out a joint drive against illegal sand excavation and dredging in the district on Sunday, October 11, led by additional superintendent of police Suraj Gurav. The operation began at 3 am and went on until 7 pm, with a large police force deployed.

Boats, fibre boats, rafts and sand worth ₹2.01 crore were seized at Markand, Vishnupuri, Pimpalgaon-Nimji, Wahegaon and Kallal, and goods worth a further ₹18 lakh at Borgaon-Limbgaon, taking the total value of the seizures to ₹2.19 crore.
