Kaij: A pickup carrying cattle and a tipper collided head-on near Jola-Sarul Pati on the Kaij-Manjarsumba road, about 20 km from Kaij, at around 2.30 pm on Sunday, October 11. Two brothers from Ambajogai who were sitting in the pickup's cabin were killed on the spot, and five cattle in the pickup also died.

The pickup was heading towards Ambajogai with cattle bought at the weekly market in Neknur when the speeding tipper struck it from the opposite direction, crushing the pickup. The tipper's driver and cleaner, trapped in its cabin, were pulled out with the help of a JCB and admitted to a hospital in Beed, where both are in serious condition.

Kaij police reached the spot after being informed. The bodies were taken to the Kaij sub-district hospital and the government hospital at Neknur. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time until police moved the vehicles aside. Further investigation is under way.
