Jalna: The local crime branch on October 9 detained a 30-year-old habitual offender from the Dwarkanagar area over a burglary at Samarthnagar in Old Jalna on September 30. During questioning he admitted to that burglary and three more, in the Kasba, Jayshankarnagar and Gopikishannagar areas, solving four cases in all, police said.

A motorcycle, an expensive smartphone and cash, worth ₹2.27 lakh in all, were seized from him. Police said he told them he had carried out the burglaries with two accomplices, using a motorcycle stolen from the Gundewadi area about 15 days earlier, and had sold the stolen jewellery to a goldsmith.

Police are searching for the two absconding accomplices and the goldsmith. Superintendent of police Teghbir Singh Sandhu had directed that burglaries in the district be solved. A team including sub-inspector Rajendra Wagh carried out the action under local crime branch inspector Pankaj Jadhav.
