Satara: So that patients in the district can get advanced diagnostic tests in Satara itself, an MRI facility has been started at the Krantisinh Nana Patil District General Hospital. The state health department is providing the service through a private company under a public-private partnership.

MRI scans will be free for patients admitted to the district hospital. Patients referred from private hospitals or coming from outside will be charged concessional rates per body part under the agreement. After a scan, patients receive a digital link to the images, a report on WhatsApp and a printed report.

The hospital already offers CT scans free of charge, and since September 2025 has provided all types of chemotherapy for cancer patients. Public works minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale had pursued the MRI facility with health minister Prakash Abitkar.

Patients in need have been urged to make use of the CT scan, MRI and chemotherapy services at the district hospital.
