Ratnagiri: After three talukas of Ratnagiri district, Ratnagiri, Sangameshwar and Rajapur, were declared drought-hit, the government has given their students relief on exam fees. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has directed that application forms for the SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) exams of February-March 2027 be accepted without fees.
Until further orders, schools and colleges are to accept these students' online exam applications free of charge, the board has said. The online application process for eligible students in the three talukas has begun.
Although the waiver has been announced, the amount sanctioned for the three talukas has not yet been made public. Every eligible student will, however, be spared the exam fee, easing the cost of education for families hit by the drought.
