Maharashtra SSC, HSC exams 2027: Class 12 from 8 February, Class 10 from 15 February; regular-fee exam form window closes on 31 October
Published:

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has fixed the window for next year’s board exams. Class 12 (HSC) written papers begin on Monday, 8 February 2027, and Class 10 (SSC) papers on Monday, 15 February 2027. The board’s notice of 17 September 2026 calls these dates ‘tentative’. The subject-wise timetable, which says which paper falls on which day, has not been published yet; the board says it will put it up separately on its website. The deadline that matters right now is the exam form: the regular-fee window closes on Saturday, 31 October 2026.
When are the exams? (the board’s tentative dates)
- HSC (Class 12) written exams: Monday, 8 February to Tuesday, 16 March 2027.
- SSC (Class 10) written exams: Monday, 15 February to Thursday, 11 March 2027.
- HSC practical, grade and oral exams and internal assessment: Wednesday, 20 January to Saturday, 6 February 2027.
- SSC practical, grade and oral exams and internal assessment: Thursday, 28 January to Saturday, 13 February 2027.
The exams are held through the nine divisional boards: Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur and Konkan. The board says it announced the dates early so that schools and colleges can plan the syllabus and students face less stress.
Exam forms: stages and deadlines
Regular students don’t fill the form themselves; their school or junior college submits it online at www.mahahsscboard.in. Class 10 forms are filled from the student’s PEN-ID in UDISE+. For Class 12, the form is pre-filled from the online Class 11 (FYJC) admission data of 2025-26 rather than from the SARAL system’s ID. Repeaters, private candidates who have received an enrolment certificate, students under the class improvement scheme or taking isolated subjects, and ITI students seeking credit transfer also apply through a school or college, on the same dates.
- Regular fee: from Friday, 14 August (HSC) and Wednesday, 19 August (SSC) to Saturday, 31 October 2026.
- Late fee: Sunday, 1 November to Sunday, 15 November 2026.
- Extra-late fee: Monday, 16 November to Monday, 30 November 2026, at Rs 50 more per student for each day.
- Last date for schools and colleges to submit the fee receipt and the students’ pre-list to the divisional board: Monday, 7 December 2026.
Both of the board’s notices state that these dates will not be extended. Schools and colleges pay the fees together through SBI’s online payment gateway, and the board’s offices do not accept cash. Hall tickets will not be issued for students whose fee has not been paid. In a letter of 16 September, the Mumbai divisional board noted that schools in its area had filed only 51,693 Class 10 forms by then, and asked them to finish quickly.
Fees: what is officially settled so far
- Combined fee for the marksheet and certificate: Rs 25, instead of the Rs 40 announced earlier. A Mumbai divisional board letter says this rate applies from the February-March 2027 exams.
- Rs 50 per student per day for forms filed in the extra-late period.
- The board’s 2027 form notices on its website do not state the basic exam fee. Ask your school or junior college for the amount.
Fee waiver for students in drought-hit talukas
A government resolution of the relief and rehabilitation department, dated 25 September 2026, declared drought-like conditions in 265 talukas of the state and granted a set of concessions there, including a waiver of exam fees for school and college students. Following it, schools and junior colleges have been told to accept Class 10 and 12 forms from students in these talukas for the February-March 2027 exams without charging the exam fee, until further orders. In the Mumbai divisional board’s area, this covers Shrivardhan taluka in Raigad district. The divisional board says further instructions from the state board will be passed on when they arrive.
Private candidates (Form No. 17): the last few days
Students who are not enrolled in a school can take the SSC or HSC exam privately by registering through Form No. 17. The regular-fee window for this closed on 30 September, and the late-fee window (Rs 100) on 15 October. Only the extra-late stage is left, until Saturday, 31 October 2026, at Rs 20 more for each day. The registration fee is Rs 1,110, plus a processing fee of Rs 100. Applications are accepted online only. Eligible candidates will receive an enrolment certificate online and must then file a separate exam form, with the exam fee, within the period the board sets.
When will hall tickets come?
The board has not announced a date for the 2027 hall tickets. Hall tickets are released through the school and college logins, and only to students whose fee has been paid. The board has warned that photos and subjects cannot be changed once the form has gone to the board and the hall ticket has been generated, so mistakes need fixing now.
What students and parents should do now
- Ask your school or college whether your form has been filed and the fee paid before 31 October. After that date the late or extra-late fee applies.
- Check the pre-list your school shows you: your name, mother’s name, date of birth, subjects and medium. The board has asked for the student’s or parent’s signature on the pre-list or the printout of the form.
- Photo for the form: a professionally taken colour passport photo, no more than six months old, with a white or plain background, the face clear and front-on and both eyes and ears visible. The file must be a JPG of 25 to 40 KB. A school uniform is preferred.
- If you have an APAAR ID, check that it has been entered in the form.
- If your taluka is on the drought list, ask your school whether the exam fee applies to you.
- Take the subject-wise timetable only from mahahsscboard.in or your divisional board’s website. Don’t rely on PDFs forwarded on social media.
- Private candidates should finish their Form No. 17 registration before 31 October.
