Pune: BJP's Shivendraraje Bhosale visited the site in Pune where candidates have been protesting over demands concerning the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) and spoke to the students on Saturday. Saying he had come at chief minister Devendra Fadnavis's instance, he told them the government was positive and that their demands would be addressed within the framework of the law.

A committee has been formed to take forward the students' demands and administrative reforms more effectively, with officer Tukaram Mundhe as its secretary, Bhosale said. The priority was the students' interest, not politics, he said, adding that the government was positive despite some limits imposed by the model code of conduct.

In the past 15 days, a requisition for 1,600 posts in the public works department, which comes under him, has been sent to the MPSC, and other departments are also moving, Bhosale said.

The final draft of the demands presented by Rohit Pawar, Vishwajeet Kadam and student representatives has reached the government, he said. As some issues depend on legal and technical matters, a solution would have to be found within the law, he said, appealing to the students to trust the government and suspend their agitation.
