Shirpur: A two-month break in the rains has caused enormous damage to kharif crops in Shirpur taluka. MLA Kashiram Pawara visited fields around Bhatane to inspect the drought-hit crops and hear farmers' problems.
Farmers said the kharif season was lost and feared that uncertain rain would put the rabi season at risk too. They demanded that the government announce substantial relief without delay. Market committee chairman K.D. Patil was among those present.
"Former minister and MLA Amrishbhai Patel and I stand firmly with the farmers and are pursuing the government for substantial help; farmers should not lose heart," Pawara said.
Considering the kharif 2026 situation, the state government included Shirpur taluka in its very first list of drought-hit talukas. Crop damage surveys in the taluka have been completed quickly and the report is being sent to the government, it was said.
