Jalgaon: To strengthen the rural economy and give farmers and rural youth self-employment, the state government has launched the Chief Minister's Rural Livestock Entrepreneurship Scheme. It offers a subsidy of 50% to general-category beneficiaries and up to 75% to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries, and online applications will open soon.

For a unit of 50 goats or sheep and five bucks, the project cost is assumed at about ₹4 lakh to ₹6 lakh, so general-category beneficiaries could get ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh and SC and ST beneficiaries ₹3 lakh to ₹4.5 lakh. There are also subsidies for units of two, four or six milch cows or buffaloes, costed at ₹2 lakh to ₹8.5 lakh, and for poultry.

The subsidy will be paid directly, without any middleman, into the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked account in a nationalised bank.

People should beware of misleading or unauthorised advertisements about the scheme on social media and contact their nearest veterinary dispensary or the toll-free helpline 1962 for information, the district administration said.
