Nandurbar: Alleging that the Shahada municipal council has not received a single rupee from district planning committee funds while other councils in the district got crores, council president Abhijit Patil has announced a token hunger strike with thousands of citizens outside the collector's office on October 15, and an indefinite fast if no notice is taken after that.

According to Patil, the district administration gave ₹5.85 crore to the Dhadgaon nagar panchayat, ₹7.26 crore to Nandurbar municipal council, ₹6.67 crore to Taloda and ₹5.76 crore to Navapur. Shahada submitted proposals worth ₹15 crore, unanimously approved by the council, to the collector on July 30, 2026, but has received nothing.

For lack of funds, the town's roads are in a terrible state and development work has stalled, he said. Shahada is the district's second-largest council; Patil heads it for the Janata Vikas Aghadi while the BJP has more councillors, and he alleges he is being discriminated against as an opposition council president.

Memorandums have also been sent to the guardian minister, the MP and the district's MLAs. The district administration's response could not be obtained.
