Sangli: The Mahayuti will contest the Sangli District Central Co-operative Bank election in full strength and announce its panel of candidates by Wednesday, the BJP said at a press conference on Saturday, October 10. MLA Gopichand Padalkar was joined by BJP district president Samrat Mahadik and MLAs Satyajit Deshmukh and Suresh Khade.

Padalkar said the decision to fight as the Mahayuti had been taken at the party's senior level, and the district steering committee met accordingly. The committee has shortlisted names for each seat and sent the list to state BJP president Ravindra Chavan, and Chavan, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and guardian minister Chandrakant Patil will decide on it.

Leaders of the alliance partners will decide how many seats each party gets, after which candidates for the 21 seats on the board of directors will be finalised. Senior leaders will talk to the allies and settle the final list in the next two days, he said.

Padalkar claimed the party has capable candidates for all 21 seats and that its panel would win control of the bank with a majority. The opposition has not yet proposed making the election unopposed, he said, adding that whether to contest or agree to an unopposed result would be decided at the senior level.
