Amravati: Alliance Air's Mumbai–Amravati–Mumbai flights for October 11 have been cancelled for operational reasons, Deepak Kapoor, vice-chairman and managing director of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), said on social media.

Passengers who had booked for the day received messages about the cancellation and had to make other arrangements at the last minute. With train tickets hard to get at short notice, many had little choice but to travel by private vehicle. The service has been cancelled several times before.

Alliance Air had decided to operate the service five days a week from October 4 and had opened online bookings, but in practice flights run only four days a week, on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Last year the service was suspended from December 1 to 15 because of dense fog.
