Dhule: The trust that ran the Krantisurya Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar government-recognised public library and study centre near the oval garden in the city's Deopur area for 25 to 30 years alleges that the municipal administration demolished its building without any permission. Ambedkarite followers and social organisations are angry, and a mass agitation has been threatened, the trust's president Govind Kamble said in a statement.

Kamble says the library was built with government funds. He alleged that the administration did not act on a court ruling in the library's favour while its proposal was pending with the corporation, and said a court had on April 3, 2025 ordered the corporation to pay a ₹3 lakh penalty and provide an alternative site.

The trust alleges officials misused their positions and acted under political pressure. It has demanded legal action against the officials responsible, recovery of ₹15 lakh in compensation from them and payment of that sum to the library. The corporation's response could not be obtained.
