Dharur: A leopard has been seen around Ghagarwada in Dharur taluka, and villagers are alarmed. At about 1 pm on Friday, October 9, a resident filmed the animal on his mobile phone from close range as it sat in a babul tree. Earlier, on October 5, a leopard had attacked and killed a calf in the Chardari area.

The taluka is already in drought, and farmers and livestock owners are struggling. The leopard's presence has added to the worries of those who go to work in the fields or take cattle out to graze, and residents want the forest department to inspect the area and take measures quickly.

Forest official Ishwar Gunawat said the leopard's movement around Ghagarwada would be verified and the necessary steps taken for people's safety. He urged residents not to panic but to stay alert: children, women and the elderly should avoid going out alone, people should go to the fields in groups, and anyone who sees the leopard should not approach or chase it but inform the forest department.
