Akola: A large part of a two-storey building behind the municipal corporation's motor vehicle department in the Rajputpura area of the city collapsed like a house of cards on the morning of Sunday, October 11. Four girls from a family living in the building were trapped under the debris, and local residents rushed in and pulled them out safely.

One girl suffered a fractured leg and was admitted to the government general hospital, while the others had minor injuries. A municipal team reached the spot and began clearing the debris with a JCB.

Residents said the building was not very old, raising questions about why it collapsed. MP Anup Dhotre and standing committee chairman Vijay Agrawal visited the site and gathered information from residents.
