Beed: Three cricketers from Beed, Sachin Dhas, Saurabh Navale and Rishikesh Sonawane, have been named in Maharashtra's squad for the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic cricket tournament. It is the first time three players from the district have been picked for the Maharashtra Ranji team at the same time, said Amer Salim, secretary of the Beed District Cricket Association.
Maharashtra play their first match against Services in New Delhi from October 11 to 14. With regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad unavailable because of India A commitments, Prithvi Shaw will lead the side in the opening game.
Maharashtra's next matches are scheduled for October 18-21, October 26-29 and November 2-5. Cricket fans in the district are delighted with the selections and will be watching to see whether the three make the playing eleven.
