Chandrapur: With non-communicable diseases on the rise, health workers are going door to door to check every resident of Chandrapur district above the age of 30. Under the public health department's 100-day 'Tishicha Palla, Tapasani an Salla' campaign, 2,11,915 people have so far been screened for high blood pressure and 1,50,410 for diabetes, Chanda Blast reported.

The campaign runs from September 1 to December 10, 2026. It aims to detect diabetes, hypertension and various cancers early, refer suspected cases for further tests and make treatment available. So far 1,04,745 people have been screened for oral cancer, while 26,959 women have been checked for breast cancer and 20,617 for cervical cancer.

Health staff have drawn up lists of people who have not had a diabetes or blood pressure check in the past year or a cancer screening in the past five years, and are encouraging them to get tested. Those found to be suspected cases are being referred to primary health centres, sub-district hospitals or the district hospital for diagnosis.

District health officer Dr Ashok Katare has appealed to everyone above 30 to get checked, either by the health team visiting their village or ward or at the nearest Arogya Vardhini centre, and to complete further tests and treatment on the advice of health workers if anything suspicious is found.
