Karanja town in Wardha to go without piped water every Sunday
The nagar panchayat urges residents to save water and stop washing vehicles with drinking water or sprinkling it on roads

Wardha: Anticipating a water shortage in the coming months, the Karanja nagar panchayat in the district has decided to shut the town's water supply completely every Sunday. It has also appealed to residents to use water carefully.
The town has had plenty of water since the nagar panchayat's new water supply scheme started, but the administration has noticed heavy waste in some places, with water sprinkled on roads, vehicles washed with drinking water and taps left running when not needed. A smooth supply does not justify unlimited use, and saving every drop is the joint responsibility of residents and the administration, the nagar panchayat said.
Residents should also fix household leaks promptly and water plants only as much as needed, it advised.
