Vasai: Three separate fires broke out within about eight hours in the Vasai-Virar area, in Nalasopara East, Virar West and Valiv in Vasai East. No one was hurt, but a factory, several shops and two warehouse units suffered heavy damage.

The first fire started at around 11.30 pm in a perfume and cosmetics company at Chaudhary Compound in the Ram Industrial Hub, Wakanpada, Nalasopara East. Five fire engines and seven water tankers were needed, and the blaze was fully put out after about six hours.

At around 5 am, fire broke out in several commercial units at M Avenue in the Global City area of Virar West. At about the same time, two units of S.M. Steel near Neelam Business Center and Varun Industries on Valiv Road in Vasai East caught fire. Firefighters brought both blazes under control in time.

The cause of the fires is not yet known; a short circuit is suspected. The repeated fires at industrial and commercial premises have raised concerns about safety in the area.
