Tiroda: The three culverts between Navezari and Sonekhari, Sonekhari and Khairi, and Khairi and Selotpar on the Navezari–Khairi–Selotpar–Navegaon road, built under the Chief Minister's rural roads scheme, have developed large potholes that raise the risk of accidents, Berar Times reported. With potholes on both sides of the culvert near Khairi village, the route has become dangerous for two-wheeler riders, schoolchildren and senior citizens.

Water flows over the culverts through the monsoon, often cutting off traffic and making travel difficult for residents. Besides filling the potholes immediately, the culverts should be raised and rebuilt as new bridges before the next monsoon, the Khairi branch of the Prahar Shetkari Sanghatana and local residents have demanded.

If the potholes are not repaired within two days, the group says it will block the road and bury a symbolic effigy of the administration in the potholes. It has also warned of a strong agitation if the new bridges are not approved.
