Hingoli: Savitribai Shankarrao Dipke, paternal grandmother of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, died after a prolonged illness on Saturday, October 10. She breathed her last at about 11.30 am at the family home in Santuk Pimpri village in Hingoli district, family sources said. She had been ill for a month and had earlier been admitted to hospital in Hingoli. Her last rites were to be held at 10 am on Sunday, the sources said.

The family could not reach Abhijeet Dipke, who is in police detention in Delhi, but his parents had been informed and were on their way to Santuk Pimpri, his cousin said. He had visited her on August 15, the day he launched his 'School Thik Karo' campaign in Hingoli district, and once more after that, but had not been able to see her in the last 20 to 25 days, the sources said.

Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka had flown from Mumbai to Delhi on Saturday for a protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party says Delhi Police detained the three inside the aircraft as soon as it landed.
