Hingoli: Storage in the Siddheshwar and Yeldari dams, both important for Hingoli and Parbhani districts, was steady as of October 10. Siddheshwar held 29.63 per cent of its live storage and Yeldari 61.05 per cent. With no rain in the catchments, inflows into both dams have stopped.

Siddheshwar has a total capacity of 250.85 million cubic metres (mcm) and currently holds 23.985 mcm of live storage, or 193.875 mcm including dead storage, with the water level at 411.145 metres. Its catchment has received 605 mm of rain so far this year, against 1,000 mm by the same date last year. No water is being released from its gates.

Yeldari holds 494.391 mcm of live storage, or 619.061 mcm including dead storage, against a total capacity of 934.440 mcm, with the water level at 458.400 metres; its catchment has had 600 mm of rain this year. With inflows stopped, the available stock has become more important, and careful planning of water use will be crucial in the coming months.
