Ratnagiri: Contractors who fail to complete Jal Jeevan Mission piped water schemes in the Ratnagiri-Sangameshwar assembly constituency on time will face strict action and be blacklisted, industries minister and guardian minister Dr Uday Samant warned at a review meeting at the government rest house.

With a possible drought ahead, all Jal Jeevan Mission works should be finished on a war footing, with MSEDCL and the rural water supply department working in coordination, Samant said. He told officials to file police complaints against anyone obstructing the works without reason. Executive engineer Amol Dabholkar, MSEDCL superintending engineer Sudhakar Jadhav, sub-divisional officer Jivan Desai and contractors from the constituency attended the meeting.

During the same visit, Samant met students of the Shamrao Peje Government Engineering College, who raised a shortage of teachers and staff, a lack of vocational training and poorly equipped laboratories. He promised to resolve the problems as a priority and said the government would fully support the college in holding a technical festival and an auto expo.
