Parbhani: The union of officers and employees of the Parbhani Municipal Corporation has warned that its members will stop work and go on strike from October 21 unless the administration urgently addresses their pending demands. Union president Naser Khan has demanded that arrears and an increase in the GST compensation grant be made available before October 20 and that three months of unpaid salary be paid.

Civic staff had gone on strike in August demanding that the government release the pending and increased GST grants. The strike, which lasted a month, was called off on September 11 after office-bearers intervened and the administration gave a written assurance.

At a meeting of officers and employees in the corporation's B Raghunath hall, staff said that with three months of salary unpaid they were struggling to meet household expenses, their children's education and medical costs. The union demanded that the administration take the demands seriously, resolve the grant issue and pay the arrears immediately. The union's Marathwada president K K Andhale was present.
