Pandharpur: A devotee couple from Mumbai on Sunday, October 11, offered two gold tulsi garlands to Vitthal and Rukmini at Pandharpur. The two garlands together weigh 166 g and are worth about ₹22 lakh. The gift was made out of devotion to the deities, it was said.

Shakuntala Nadgire, a member of the Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir Samiti, felicitated the donor couple. Devotees make donations to the temple in many forms as an expression of their faith, the committee said.

The temple committee recently decided to give ₹2 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in view of the drought in the state. The coming Kartiki yatra will be held from November 10 to 24, and darshan will be open round the clock from November 14 for the convenience of pilgrims.
