Gadchiroli: Two brothers died at Chikhali in Desaiganj taluka on Friday, October 9, after an electric shock from the wire of a solar-powered fence put up in a farm to protect crops from wild animals. The men were 50 and 58 years old. The incident came to light around 2 pm, Maharashtra Times and Pudhari reported.

The family's farm lies at the edge of the forest, some distance from the village. The younger brother had gone there around 9 am to spray pesticide. When he had not returned by the afternoon, his elder brother went to look for him and found him lying dead near the solar fence wire. As soon as he touched his brother, he too received a severe shock and died on the spot.

When neither came home for a long time, family members went to the farm and found them. Desaiganj police inspector Swapnil Ijjapwar and his team drew up a panchnama at the spot, and the bodies were sent to the Desaiganj rural hospital for post-mortem examination.

The two brothers had been looking after the family's six acres of ancestral land. Their eldest brother has been bedridden since an accident two months ago. The loss of the household's two earning members has devastated the family, and the village is in mourning.
