Hingoli: Maharaja Shri Agrasen Jayanti, celebrated with great fervour in the city every year, was marked quietly on Sunday, October 11. Some members of the Agrawal community are among those badly burnt in a fire at a firecracker godown in Marwadi Galli, so the community cancelled the customary procession and other programmes and gave the money it would have spent to the burn victims for their treatment.
At about 8 pm on Monday, October 5, firecrackers stored in a house in Marwadi Galli caught fire and exploded. Three people died and 15 were injured; the injured were treated at hospitals in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Latur and Hingoli. One of those badly burnt is still in hospital, and the cost of treatment is high.
Community leaders marked the day by worshipping the statue of Maharaja Shri Agrasen on Sunday, in the presence of a large number of women, men and young people from the Agrawal community.
