Wardha: Taking serious note of growing drug use among young people, Wardha district police have launched a 'Drugs Free Wardha' campaign. Under it, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force held an anti-drug awareness programme at Shri Krishnadas Jaju Rural Service College in Pipri, Wardha, on October 9.

Students were told about the harmful effects of narcotics through an NDPS awareness video made by the district police and a presentation. Police inspector Vinod Choudhari addressed them, women officers of the Damini squad spoke about the safety of college girls, and the Wardha cyber cell gave guidance on cyber security.

Drug use not only damages physical and mental health but also fuels criminal tendencies, the police said, urging students to stay away from addiction. The programme ended with the national anthem.
