Delhi Police’s Special Cell has detained four people, two of them women, over the shots fired on the actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai at about 7 pm on 18 October. A court has handed the four to Mumbai Police on a three-day transit remand for further questioning, ANI reported, citing the police.

Who was detained, and where

  • Kunal (21) and Sumit (19), of Sonipat in Haryana: in Sonipat on 20 October.
  • Radha (23) and Babita (23), of Uttar Pradesh: at New Delhi railway station on 20 October.

After the four were produced in court, the court allowed an application by the Mumbai CID of the Maharashtra Police for their formal arrest and three days’ transit remand.

The sequence of events, according to the police

  • Kunal, out on bail, was introduced through a friend to a man named Anil Pandit and stayed in touch with him on an encrypted app, the police allege.
  • On Pandit’s instructions, Kunal brought a pistol and 20 rounds from Amritsar, according to the police.
  • On 15 October, Radha and Babita left New Delhi with a bag containing the pistol and on 17 October checked into a hotel in Dadar, where, it is alleged, a minor picked up the bag from them.
  • Once the shots had been fired, Pandit told Kunal the attackers could not get out of Mumbai and wanted him to help them flee; on 18 October the two women left for Delhi on the Dadar–Haridwar Express, the police said.

The police are still investigating what part each of the accused played and how they are connected to the shooting. All those detained are accused, and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
